Vietnam, the land of some of the most vibrant beaches, spectacular rivers, spiritual Buddhist pagodas and ultra-modern cities of the world, is now also known as a prime poker destination where the fast-growing Asia Poker League (APL) Road Series Vol. 2 is currently underway.
The 11-day mega poker festival – Asia Poker League (APL) Road Series Vol. 2 is being hosted at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City and it will continue through June 4. The ongoing series has certainly crossed all expectations. And what would be more convincing to support this fact that the highlight VND 5 Billion GTD Main Event registered a huge 864 entries across four starting flights?
The Main Event of the series became a huge hit. It quickly crossed the specified the GTD. The total prize pool went up to a whopping VND 8,380,800,000, which is to be shared by the top 108 finishers. This time around, the turnout also surpassed the previous record of 664 entries registered by the APL last year in January, making the APL Road Series Vol. 2 bigger and more popular.
The good news for Indian poker fraternity is that the Team India has punched in a stronger presence in the series with four of its players notching up notable scores in the main event. India’s Adarsh Jayappa finished 14th for an impressive VND 78 Million (INR 2.28 Lac), Sahil Agarwal took the 32nd position for VND 38 Million (INR 1.11 Lac), Dhaval Mudgal finished 81st place for VND 22 Million (INR 64,497) and the well-known Zarvan Tumboli settled for a min-cash.
Both Tumboli and Mudgal also final-tabled the Hyper event. Tumboli finished third for a cool VND 40 Million (INR 1.17 Lac), while Mudgal finished seventh for VND 15 Million (INR 43,975).
Meanwhile, some more action is expected from Team India as Dhaval Mudgal, Sahil Agarwal, Jaydeep Dawer, Manoj Pentakota, Vishal Kapoor, Vidwath Shetty, Kalyan Chakravarthy, Amit Aneja and Varun Gupta are in contention at the grand VND 25 Million buy-in High Roller.
