The European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona stop has always been popular among the poker players over the years. The previous record for the largest EPT Main Event was set at 1,785 entries, but this record has been broken now at the Casino Barcelona with a total of 1,903 entries registering for the the ongoing 2018 EPT Barcelona €5,300 Main Event over the two days of starting flights. While Day 1A registered 598 entries, Day 1B went on to register 1,305 entries, taking the total entries to 1,903. Even though the prizepool has not been announced, the winner will take a massive 7-figure payday.
After 10 levels of 60 minutes on Day 1B, Belgium’s Anthony Chimkovitch (390,000 chips) was leading 567 survivors from Day 1B coming into Day 2. Canada’s Ben Wilinofsky bagged the lead from Day 1A with 330,000 in chips. Chimkovitch is no stranger to the EPT Barcelona Main Event and has finished 20th in 2016 and 114th last year. This time, he will be eyeing the EPT Main Event title.
Team India
To the delight of Indian poker community, five Indian poker players have entered Day 2 of the ongoing EPT Main Event, including our top female pro Muskan Sethi, Abhinav Iyer, Samay Parikh, Charu Vikram Kaushik, and Kunal Pinjwani. Sethi and Parikh have bagged 51,200 each, while Kaushik has amassed 46,600 in chips. Iyer and Punjwani are holding 44,000 and 32,000 in chips.
