On August 29, 2018, World Poker Tour (WPT), one of world’s biggest poker brands came out with a press release that stated both the WPT and partypoker LIVE would be entering a four-year partnership. The two companies will see them combine forces for up to seven international poker events across Canada and Europe, with each event featuring a prize pool guarantee up to €3 million.
The new partnership also means that the players will be able to win seats to select WPT events from online satellites on partypoker with buy-ins as low as $0.01. Each WPT Main Tour event will have a minimum of 300 seats, which will be up for grabs through partypoker promotions.
Live streaming of the events will be available from both the WPT and partypoker LIVE’sMy partypoker LIVE app.
The kickoff event for this partnership will be happening at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, Canada in October and will feature WPT500, WPTDeepStacks and WPT Main Tour events. This will be for the first time that the three buy-in levels offered by the WPT will happen at the same festival.
Expressing his thoughts on this new partnership with World Poker Tour, the President of partypoker LIVE, John Duthie said, “I’m so pleased to announce our new partnership with the World Poker Tour. The WPT has always aimed to put the players first, and that is a mission we strongly adhere to with our partypoker LIVE events. Collaborating with the WPT on these additional events across Canada and Europe will allow us to continue to provide players with the tournaments they want across the globe.”
“The World Poker Tour is proud to partner with partypoker LIVE on this new, four-year global initiative. The partnership allows the WPT to continue its dedication of bringing world-class poker to people’s lives, and we are honored to have John Duthie and the entire team at partypoker LIVE sharing in this value. Together with partypoker LIVE, we look forward to elevating the game for all levels.” WPT CEO Adam Pliska said.
“The partnership with partypoker LIVE will bring WPT Main Tour stops in Europe to unprecedented heights. We are thrilled that two major operators can join forces again to bring the best poker experience to the players with each individual savoir-faire.” said Hermance Blum, WPT VP Europe.
