Although it was not officially on the schedule of the 2018 World Poker Tour (WPT) Korea, a KRW15,500,000 buy-in Super High Roller event took place just last weekend. The event drew 20 entries, creating a prizepool of KRW294,000,000 (US$263,547), which was shared by top 4 players.
Besting the field of 20 entries in this tournament was Ivan Leow, who defeated the well-known Pete Chen in heads-up to take down the coveted title for an impressive KRW132,300,000 (~$118,724).
For Leow, it was yet another addition to his poker achievements. Apart from several deep runs in various prestigious tournaments, he took down the 2018 Oriental Poker Championship’s (OPC) HK$100,000 NLHE High Roller for HK$1,442,300 ($183,745). In August, he won the Triton Super high Roller event at partypoker Millions Russia, Sochi for $1,133,555. September saw the Malaysian pro finishing 5th in the €25,000 NLHE at European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona for €98,000 (~$114,088).
The tournament saw the participation from several well-known pros. Some notables in the mix included the likes of Sparrow Cheung, Danny Tang, Victor Chong, Michael Soyza and Pete Chen.
