WSOPE 2018: Timur Margolin Wins MONSTER STACK For His 2nd Bracelet; India’s Dhawal Lachhwani Finishes 10th

The 2018 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) €1,100 Monster Stack NLHE has concluded with Timur Margolin from Israel taking down the coveted event to claim his second bracelet of the year. Margolin collected a hefty sum of €134,407 for beating a strong field of 666 players in the tournament. In heads up, he defeated Chile’s Raul Villarroel, who had to finally settle for €83,042.

Margolin picked up his first win in Las Vegas at the WSOP with a grand victory in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold-em event for which he took home over $500,000. With the second bracelet in his kitty, Margolin joins Hanh Tran as the only players to win a bracelet in Las Vegas and in Rozvadov in the same year.

Margolin was presented the WSOP bracelet by King’s Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik. It has been an amazing series for the Israelian players and it was their third bracelet. Talking about the Israelian contingent and his grand victory in the tournament, Margolin said: “Amazing, it feels awesome. I was sitting at home watching the live stream and seeing what the boys were doing so I said I have to come to King’s Casino. This was the first tournament I played here and managed to bink it.”

 Team India

It was a good tournament for India as three Indians Dhawal Lachhwani, Manish Goenka and Bharath Janardhan joined in the action through different starting flights and reached Day 2. While Lachhwani entered Day 3 and was among the top stacks with 14 remaining players, Goenka ended his run in 29th place for €3080 (INR 2,60,721). Janardhan, however, exited empty-handed.

After Goenka, India’s hope for bracelet was on Lachhwani who began Day 3 action with a decent stack but could not go all the way. Unfortunately for the player, he missed out on the coveted final table. He became the short stack and moved all-in with ten-eight. Sebastian Ulrich who was holding king-queen called and his hand held up to send Lachhwani out in 10th place for €6,949.

Heads-Up

Margolin entered the coveted final battle against Raul Villarroel with big a 10-1 chip lead, but the latter doubled up holding A-K to Margolin’s K-10. After few hands later however, Villarroel’s pocket sevens finally lost to his Margolin’s J-9 to bring the uneven contest to a premature end. Villarroel collected €83,042 for his runner-up finish, while the eventual winner Timur Margolin made it to three wins out of five completed events for the Israeli contingent at the ongoing 2018 WSOP Europe.

A total of 666 entries came in and a prizepool of €639,027 was created. Top 100 players made money in this event with a min-cash starting from €1,605.
