The schedule for the world’s biggest and richest tournament series – WSOP has been announced! The WSOP 2019 is set to return to its usual venue – the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.The 50th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) series will begin on May 28 and continue through July 16, 2019.
Although the final schedule is still being finalized by the WSOP, the most noteworthy detail in the released-schedule is a brand new event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the WSOP. The name of this brand new tournament is ‘Big 50’ and it is a $500 buy-in event with a $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and a $1 million guaranteed first-place prize. This historic event will run from May 30 to June 2 and it will be rake-free for each player’s initial entry, which means all $500 buy-ins will be going into the prize pool. The tournament will feature 4 starting flights – May 30 through June 2.
“We’re excited to commence our golden event. We expect our opening weekend Big 50 event to be one of the largest in our history, and certainly one of the best value tournaments ever offered. This is part of our concerted plans to make the 2019 WSOP a better value all-around.” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.
Other key events on 2019 schedule include the $1,500 Millionaire Maker, the Seniors NLH championship, the Monster Stack NLH, the Crazy Eights NLH, and the $10,000 WSOP Main Event, which will feature 3 starting flights this year. The Main Event will begin on July 3 and will continue till July 5. The popular festival will be aired exclusively on PokerGO and ESPN, from July 3-16.
A Glimpse Into WSOP 2018
This year’s WSOP saw thousands of poker players coming from all over the world and participating in the world’s richest series running from May 29 to July 17 and rewarding 78 bracelets in total.
A record 123,865 entries came into the 2018 WSOP festival, creating a record $266,889,193 in prize money. Poker players walked away with the coveted gold bracelets and life-changing prizes. It is worth a mention here that the average bracelet event in 2018 had a $3,421,656 prize pool with $655,337 for the winner. It was a dream series for John Cynn who won its Main Event for a hefty $8.8 million. He turned his $10,000 buy-in into one of the richest prizes, beating 7,874 players.
Notable Scores By Team India At WSOP 2018
The WSOP 2018 Main Event turned out to be a memorable one for India. Nishant Sharma finished 34th to become the best Indian finisher in a WSOP Main Event, while Vivek Rughani finished 88th in the event. Kartik Ved also ran deep and scored a 128th place finish in the event, while Paawan Bansal finished runner-up in The Closer $1,500 NLH Event for his best $378,765 (INR 2.58 Crores).
Meanwhile, Indian players Kalyan Chakravarthy (DCPS $600 NLHE MonsterStack) and Yudhishter Jaswal (DCPS $1,600 NLHE Bounty) cashed out big at others key events in Las Vegas.
