Day 1 of the Jeju Red Dragon 2018 High Roller has concluded at the Landing Casino on Jeju Island, South Korea. Of the 73 players, who came down to join the KRW 12,000,000 buy-in event, it was China’s Huahuan Feng who emerged as the chip leader, concluding the day with a stack of 415,000.
The big news for Indian poker community is that our very own in-form Indian challenger Kalyan Chakravarthy was among the 45 survivors who bagged up their chips to enter Day 2 of the event.
This particular high roller tournament guaranteed KRW 300 million and by the end of just the second 40-minute level, the number of entries had reached 38 entries to crush the set guarantee. The field is bound to expand as the late registration will remain open till 3:10pm local time today.
Coming back to Chakravarthy, the Hyderabad native has been very consistent, especially when it comes to High Rollers. Most recently, he grabbed headlines for winning the WPT India 2018 High Roller. Before this, he won the 2018 Deepstack Championship in Las Vegas for his career best score of $147,233. The player had a good year in online poker as well and had won the very first Adda52’s Big Millions. He is 6th in chips and we hope that he runs good and secures another big score.
Chakravarthy will be battling it today with some tough Asian players, including the chip leader Huahuan Feng from China who halds 415k in chips and High roller regular Huang Shan who is second in chips with 412k. Other big stacks include Chen An Lin (310,500), Nan Wei (336,000) and Wen Jun Long (306,500) who rounded top five. Others who will be up against Chakravarthy include Baby Dragon Event winner James Won Lee and Michael Soyza. While Chakravarthy is the only Indian to enter Day 2, Sumit Sapra has made Day 2 of Event #9 Megastack with a decent chip stack.
