The 2019 World Series of Poker Main Event is in full swing in Las Vegas. The event has been grand success with 8,569 entries coming in and making it the second biggest Main Event in WSOP history. The massive field has resulted in a $80,548,600 prizepool, which is to be shared by the top 1,286 players with min-cashes starting from $15,000. The eventual champion will walk away with a hefty $10 Million (INR 68.68 Crores). 2,880 runners had returned for Day 3 and that field narrowed down to 1,286 runners at the end of 5th level of the day after the money bubble burst in Ryan Pochedly, who exited in 1287th place and received a 2020 WSOP Main Event entry for his unfortunate bustout.
Preben Stokkan is the chip leader after Day 3 of the Main Event completed on Monday. Stokkan, who is currently 93rd on the GPI ranking, has $1.7 million in live tournament earnings. Norwegian pro is the only player with over 2,000,000 chips after bagging up 2,184,000 in chips. Stokkan started the day with 93,000 chips but stacked up nicely to eventually take the massive chip lead for Day 4 play, which begins later tonight. Behind him is Andrew Brokos who finished second in chips. The Baltimore native more than doubled his stack and ended the day with 1,906,000 in chips. Ryan Dodge sits third with 1,800,000 in chips. Three WSOP Main Event champions are still in the mix, namely Chris Moneymaker (681,000), Qui Nguyen (669,000) and Johnny Chan (498,000).
Team India
15 Indians had returned for Day 3, but only 10 survived the day’s play. Among the survivors, Kartik Ved bagged up the biggest stack of 970,000 (121 big blinds). Making his second appearance at the series, Ved is in a good form and has already made cashed in seven events at the series. Last year, he had finished 128th for $57,010 (INR 39.20 Lac) at the Main Event and will now be looking to better his previous score as he holds the 85th largest stack among the 1,286 survivors for Day 4.
New Delhi’s Akshay Nasa, who has cashed in two events at the series, ended the day with 900,000 (113 big blinds). Finishing third in chips among Indians was London-based Yudhishter Jaswal who bagged 776,000 (97 big blinds). The other Indians to qualify for Day 4 were Hyderabad’s Ashish Kasaraneni (399,000 -50 big blinds) and Romit Advani who progressed with 314,000 -39 big blinds).
The other 5 Indians to progress were Ankita Ahuja (286,000 -36 Big Blinds), Jaideep Sajwan (175,000 -22 big blinds), PokerStars India Team pro Aditya Agarwal (136,000- 17 big blinds), Goonjan Mall (115,000 – 14 big blinds) and Siddharth Karia (113,000 – 14 big blinds). Each of the Indian challengers progressing is now in the money as all the remaining 1,286 are paid out.
