The 2019 WPTDeepStacksBrussels was hosted at Grand Casino Viage from February 7-10. The €1,200 Main Event attracted a record field of 584 entries across 3 starting flights. In the end, it was Mohamed Abdou who eventually took down the title along with €118,000 in top prize.
Abdou played some top-notch poker at the final table, picking right spots. He reached heads-up against Rehman Kassam who fought well but couldn’t go all the way, finishing runner-up for € 79,000.
“I feel great! I came to Brussels after playing a satellite on Winamax, but I bubbled the package and received €500. So, I decided to come and play anyway,” Abdou said. “I’m playing a lot more tournaments this year, and I plan to attend WPT Barcelona next month.”
The top 71 finishers shared the €623,128 with a min-cash of €2,100. The final day saw 18 survivors returning to battle it out for the €118,000 top prize. Action saw the 8 players hitting the rail within the first 3 levels of play, including Long Nguyen, Thibault Saillard, Lyor Yiflach and Bruno Fernandes.
Mihai Stinca got eliminated in 13th place for €7,544, Said El-Yousfi was out in the 12th for €9,350, and Abou Sy finished 11th for €9,350).The FT bubble burst in Vincent Gabel (10th for €11,700) who moved all-in with jack-ten and found a caller in Fernando Garay who turned over queen-ten for two pair.
