The 2nd edition of the Indian Poker Series (TIPS) is currently underway at Kings Resort in the Czech city of Rozvadov. The series scheduled between 6-11 March 2019 is now in its final stages and today is the last day. The biggest highlight of TIPS is the €350 Main Event where there are just 17 players remaining. Among the final 17, there are 3 Indians – Pulkit Goyal, Tarun Goyal and Gaurav Gupta.
So far, the five events of the TIPS are already done and dusted. The first event was the KENTA Welcome Event and it found a winner in Romania`s Ciprian Paunescu who won €4,557 (INR 3.61 Lac) for his win. India’s Himanshu Dewan finished 3rd in this event for €2, 052.
The second event to conclude was at TIPS was Turbo Noon Freezeout where India’s Jayant Ramkrishna Yewale emerged victorious, taking home €700 (INR 55,097 after a 3-way chop. The third event to wrap up was Poker Classic 1 and it found a winner in Binyamin Hota. Hota won the event for €3,464 (INR 2.72 Lac), while India’s Satyam Surendra, who finished runner-up, took home €2,361(INR 1.85 Lac). Himanshu Dewan ran deep in this event as well and finished 9th for €347 (INR 27,299).
The series also had the KENTA Turbo Omaha and it was shipped by Ankit Kapoor for €2,796 (INR 2.20 Lac). Recently, Kapoor was in news for winning DPT February 2019 Main Event for INR 22.50 Lac.
Liad Greenberg Wins TIPS €770 Highroller, Jagdeep Singh Finishes Runner-Up
Apart from the above-mentioned events, the series had €770 KENTA Highroller, which kicked off yesterday and drew a total of 93 entries. Outlasting the field in this particular event was Israel’s Liad Greenberg. He won the title for an impressive €15,097 (INR 11.86 Lac) after making a heads-up deal with Indian challenger Jagdeep Singh. Singh pocketed €14,000 (INR 11 Lac) for his runner-up finish.
Singh is a talented poker player from New Delhi with several FT finishes across domestic and international live poker tournaments. He got his best live cash back in 2017 when he finished 9th in the 2017 WSOP $ 1,500 No Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha – 8 Handed (Event #64) for a $20,181.
Singh captained the Haryana Hawks team who won Match IPL 2 in April 2018. He also finished 6th in the Asian Pairs Challenge where he represented Team India. The player has been a regular at Deltin Poker Tournaments (DPT) and has already won a DPT title (shipped DPT 15K PLO in September 2017).
Another Indian to run deep in this event was Abhishek Jaiswal. He was doing pretty well but he lost a couple of key pots, eventually exiting the tournament in 9th place for a good €1,763 prizemoney.
As mentioned above, this TIPS high roller tournament drew a total of 93 entries, which resulted in the final prize pool of €61,845 (INR 48.61 Lac). Given below are the top 10 places paid in this event:
