The dates have already been announced for the 50th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP), the global championship of professional poker that attracts thousands of players from across the world.
The world’s richest and biggest poker festival will run from May 28 to July 16, 2019 at its usual home, the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and it is expected to award $200 + Million in prizes.
To celebrate WSOP’s 50th Golden Anniversary, a ‘huge opening weekend event’ will be held on May 30 through June 2: The Big 50. This event will feature a $500 buy-in with 50,000 chips and 50-minute levels. The event will offer a $5-million in guaranteed prize pool and a $1-million to the champion.
The Big 50’s affordable buy-in makes it a super value. Adding to the delight, WSOP is making everyone’s initial entry into the tournament rake-free. All $500 of the buy-in will go directly into the prize pool. The organizers will also host a celebratory gala and awards evening on Saturday, June 29.
“We’re excited to commence our golden event. We expect our opening Big 50 event to be one of the largest in our history, and certainly one of the best value tournaments ever offered. This is part of our concerted plan to make the 2019 World Series of Poker a better value all-around.” said WSOP executive director Ty Stewart.
