The 2019 Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT Korea) is currently being hosted at Paradise City, Incheon. It features several exciting tournaments, including its ₩700,000 APPT National, which is down to the 9-handed final table. One of the unique offerings at the series is the ₩1M Short Deck Re-Entry, which has attracted 62 entries (including 23 re-entries), creating an impressive ₩54,126,000 in prizepool.
Only top 7 finishers will receive a payout. The tournament has already reached the 7-handed final table and leading the final 7 is India’s Yasheel Doddanavar with 3,530,000 chips. Given his massive lead, Doddanavar is a strong contender for the title and top prize of ₩17,862,000 (INR 10.82 Lac).
Chasing Doddanavar in chips are Long Chun Pang (2,000,000) and Hong Kong’s Tsun Ming Chan (1,380,000). Doddanavar had also made Day 2 of the ongoing ₩700,000 APPT National. He had returned for Day 2 play with a stack of 142,000 but sadly exited it before the money bubble.
Short Deck is a unique format that uses only the cards valued 6 and above from a standard deck. Usually, Indian players don’t prefer this format as most of them are used to the No Limit Hold’em and PLO events. However, Doddanavar tried this unique format and he did pretty well, emerging as FT chip leader. We hope that Doddanavar runs well at the FT and clinches the Short Deck title.
