The Pro Poker Club in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City has become a popular poker destination in the Asian region especially over the last few months. The poker brand has already played host to several poker events there and the latest event they are hosting is the Asia Poker League (APL) Vietnam.
The APL Vietnam is scheduled between 9-20 May this month. While several events are already done and dusted, the VND 8 Billion GTD Main Event is currently underway. The Main Event has four starting flights, the fourth of which ended just last night and it drew the largest field of 289 entries.
Day 1D
289 entries from Day 1D combined with 64 from Day 1A, 70 from Day 1B and 200 from Day 1C sum up to a total of 623 entries in the APL Vietnam Main Event. In the final flight- Day 1D, only 75 players progressed and among them there were India’s Sahil Agarwal (298,500) and Sumit Sapra (68,000). The player to emerge as the chip leader from Day 1D was Vietnam’s Chu Thai Thinh with 378,500.

Day 1C
A total of three Indian players have made Day 2 of the APL Main Event. Another Indian to progress is Abhinav Iyer. The young gun progressed from Day 1C, which attracted a total of 200 entries and only 46 players survived at the day end after 14 levels of play. USA’s Matthew Mortensen emerged as the chip leader with 400,000. China’s Yuwen Pan (271,000) ended the day as second in chips. India’s Abhinav Iyer, who was the sole Indian to survive from Day 1C, ended the day with 83,500 chips.

Day 1B
A total of 70 registered for Day 1B at Pro Poker Club. By the end of the scheduled 14 rounds, only 15 players had chips to bag with USA’s Daniel Perkins emerging as the chip leader with 292,000 chips.
Perkins ended slightly ahead of the Day 1A chip leader Nguyen Thi Hien Hoa who bagged 290,000 in chips. Perkins claimed the lead halfway through. He then busted Kjell Ove Dyb to extend his lead.

Day 1A
The first of the 4 starting flights of the Main Event ended with a total of 64 entries buzzing up the tables at Pro Poker Club. After the scheduled fourteen 40-minute levels, the field came down to to just 14 players. Nguyen Thi Hien Hoa emerged as the chip leader with 290,000 chips. No player came close to her stack. USA’s Quang ended as distant second with 179,500 in chips.

Day 2 Begins Today At 1 PM!
Day 2 starts today at 1pm. A total of 149 runners will be returning to play out a total of 10 levels. USA’s Matthew Mortensen will start the day as the chip leader with 400,000. He is trailed by Day 1D chip leader Vietnam’s Chu Thai Thinh who is holding 378,500. Entering Day 2 of the event are three Indians Sahil Agarwal, Sumit Sapra and Abhinav Iyer. All the three are talented players and will be looking for deep runs in the event. Sahil Agarwal headlines the Indians with a stack of 298,500.
The VND 8 Billion GTD Main Event featuring VND 16,500,000 buy-in drew 623 entries in total. Only 78 will share the prizepool after bubble bursts today. The eventual winner will take home a whopping VND 1,700,440,0000 (~US$ 73,000). Given below are the top chip counts for Day 2 start:
