After shipping $1,650 NLH Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) Main Event to claim his first live title, Chris Moon did so again. He won the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) FireKeepers $1,100 Main Event after his HPT ME win less than 2 weeks ago. The US pro outlasted 1,592 entries to earn $258,407, his new biggest live cash after he scooped $183,899 at HPT. His latest win took his live earnings to $754,793.
The tournament featured a hefty $1 million guarantee. Across its three starting flights, it easily smashed the specified guarantee and took the prizepool to over $1.5 million, which was distributed among the top 171 players. Among some notable players who cashed in the tournament were Craig Trost, Kou Vang, Blake Bohn, Craig Casino, Aaron Johnson and Jeff Fielder to name a few.
Moving into the final table, Moon had started play with only 17 big blinds. After the chip leader Jeff Hill scored the first couple of eliminations to take the massive lead, Moon began to surge ahead at the final table. He earned his first double-up with aces against the A-J of Matt Stammen.
A few hands later, Moon was dealt queens, which helped to bust Jason Johnson in eight place. Keeping the momentum, he then busted Irbrahim Shoubah in seventh place. Up next, Moon then won a big hand against Jeffrey Hill. He had shoved on the turn for under 7 millions. Hill had flopped a middle set but Moon hit top set to double up and take half of the chips in play.
Later, Moon busted Ryan Awwad in third place to move into heads-up with 23,525,000 chips against Hill’s 8,375,000. The heads-up did not last longer and the final hand came within half an hour. It saw Moon limp in from the button with 9c 8d and Hill raised to 1.2 Million with 10c 4c. The flop fell 7s 3s 6s where Hill bet and Moon called. The turn opened 5h. Hill bet 2.1 Million and Moon shoved all-in. Hill made a snap call for a straight. However, Moon had 9c 8c for a 9-high straight. The turn was 8c and Moon took down another title and added one more win to his poker resume.
