Day 1 of Event #40: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha of the 2019 WSOP (World Series of Poker) drew a total of 1,216 entries and generated a hefty $1,641,600 prizepool, which is to be shared by 183 players.
After 12 hours of intense action, Day 1 ended with just 200 players advancing to Day 2 out of 1,216. Among 200 players making it to Day 2, there were 3 Indians – Sajal Gupta, Aditya Sushant and Nipun Java. Gupta, who is better known for his exploits on the virtual felts, ended the day as the second biggest stack with 512,500. Sushant bagged 159,000, while Java ended the day with 42,500.
Israeli player Shahar Levi ended the day with 519,000 and will be returning as the start-of-Day 2 chip leader among 200 survivors. The other big stacks were former WSOP Heads-Up Championship bracelet winner Keith Lehr (464,000), Robin Ylitalo (435,500) and Dimitri Holdeew ( 414,500).
Among other notables advancing to Day 2 were eight-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel with a massive stack of 368,000, Mike Matusow (152,500), Barny Boatman (143,000), Matt Glantz (380,000), Ben Ludlow (194,000), Ankush Mandavia (51,500), and Mohsin Charania (44,500).
The 200 players making it to Day 2 are just 17 eliminations away from the ITM stage as the top 183 players are to be paid out with min-cashes starting from $2,248. The largest share of the prizepool will go to the eventual champion who will take home a hefty $298,507 and the coveted bracelet.
