Day 3 of the VND 22,000,000 buy-in APT Vietnam Main Event is in the books with 8 players remaining to battle it out for the title and the top prize of VND 1,892,170,000 (~INR 55.71 Lac). The event drew a total of 458 entries to easily smash the specified guarantee and generate a whopping VND 8,885,200,000 in prizepool (INR 2.61 Crores). 63 players had returned for Day 3 yesterday, including the two Indians challengers, namely Manoj Pentakota (413,000) and Rubin Labroo (203,500).
The star among the two Indians was Pentakota. He played brilliantly well during the day and held the massive chip lead for the most time. However, he then a lost a big pot to Quang Nguyen and his stack came down. This is was almost the turning point as the player could not make a comeback and eventually exited in 12th place (VND 136,860,000 ( INR 4.05 Lac), thus narrowly missing the FT.
As for Labroo, who had finished third in the Monster Stack of the ongoing series, he got busted in 37th place for VND 45,840,000 (INR 1.35 Lac). He had shoved all-in with Jc 9c after a bet from Kajornnut Prirungrueng, who called with 5s 6s and rivered a flush to eliminate Labroo in 37th place.
Kajornnut Prirunggrueng (9th for VND 197,100,000) became the last elimination of the day and he was eliminated by Terry Nguyen. The day ended with 8 players left. New Zealand’s Oliver Helm was the chip leader with a stack of 3,120,000 chips. He was followed by Quang Nguyen (2,990,000).
