If you play online poker in India, then you must be knowing about Godfather. It is one of the biggest weekly online poker tournaments happening every week on Adda52. The 20 Lac GTD tournament takes place every Thursday and draws a good mix of pros, regs and recreational players. Last night saw another Godfather X, which drew an impressive field of 401 entries to generate INR 20 Lac + prizepool, which was eventually shared by the top 43 players with a min-cash being INR 11,028.
Topping the strong 401-entry field in last night’s Godfather was a known reg in Ayan Ray aka ‘gutshotguru1’, who defeated the well-known pro Meherzad Munsaf in heads-up to win his first Godfather for an impressive INR 4,97,240, which is by far his biggest online score on adda52.com.
Ray has plenty of cashes and a few big wins to his name. The rising talent has already won several tournaments on adda52.com, including two Beast tourneys. Just a few days back, he had finished runner-up in Maverick and last night he added one more score to his growing online poker resume by shipping Godfather X to win INR 4.97 Lac and a seat to the Godfather X SNG to be played this Sunday, 22nd September 2019. The eventual winner of this SNG on Adda52 will get a 9 Lac Europe Package, which includes 6.3 Lac towards tournament buy-ins and 2.7 Lac towards travel expenses.
Post his win, Ray seemed very delighted and he said, “I feel quite satisfied by winning Godfather X on Adda52.” Talking about the field, he said, “The field was not super easy last night. At one point in the late stages, I had Siddarth Singhvi,Minissha Lamba and Pranav Bang on the same table. On the final table, I had Akshay Nasa to my immediate left, which wasn’t very comfortable for me either. I won a huge pot against him in a SB vs BB 3 bet pot with KK, which sort of guaranteed my finish on top.”
Talking about Munsaf, he is a veteran pro with several final tables and cashes internationally and in India. 2019 has been a big year for Munsaf, especially on the live felts. He began the year with a 29th place finish in the Monster Stack 1 at the 2019 APT Kickoff Vietnam and then followed up that score with two FT finishes and a win for INR 10,80,000 in the DPT Colossus 50K Warm Up. His last recorded live cash was in the 2019 WSOP Crazy Eights where he had cashed for $ 1,622 in June. As for his run on the online felts, he has been in good form over the last few months and has scored several FT finishes in popular tournaments like Blaze (5th), Whale (4th) and Mega Suits (4th). Last night, he added one more FT score to his resume by finishing runner-up in Godfather X.
Talking about his runner-up finish, Munsaf said, “It feels great to run deep and showcase your skills, attributes, patience, and strength to achieve your success . I could had been better but missed it by a whisker.”
When asked about the field, he said, “In the end, it was a tough field with known notables but I guess the patience is a key virtue to it.”
Munsaf has been a regular to live poker tournaments taking place at the Deltin Royale in Goa. He has fared exceptionally well especially in the DPT Colossus Events. This year in May, he had won the DPT Colossus 50k Warm-Up. Last year, he had made two final tables at the Colossus, finishing 6th in the 50K Warm-up for INR 2,42,000 and ending as a runner-up in the Main Event for a hefty INR 19,16,000. Now he is preparing himself for the WPT India 2019. Talking about the same, he said, “I am really excited about the WPT India this year .. looking forward for a good run. This year has been a good one by the grace of God as I have achieved a lot on the live scene as well as online. Plans are going to be to play some skilled poker with the right mind frame and to the best of my skill set. It’s going to be one hell of an event and would be a great turnout too. I wish everyone more power and success.”
Top 43 players were paid out in last night’s Godfather. Some notables to finish ITM were the young gun Akshay Nasa (5th for INR 1,04,260), Siddarth Singhvi (9th for INR 32,080), recent Godfather X winner Anil Adiani (10th for INR 25,063), Mihir Thakkar (12th for INR 25,063), Bharath Kumar(16th for INR 20,050), Rubin Labroo (25th for INR 15,038), Manish Lakhotia (29th for INR 13,033), Ujjwal Narwal (31st for INR 13,033), and Adda52 Celebrity Pro Minissha Lamba who finished 32nd for INR 13,033.
