The moment you all have been waiting for is here! The 3rd edition of WPT India powered by Adda52 kicks off tomorrow at the Champions Den – Deltin Royale in Goa and runs all the way till 21st October 2019. The action-packed tournament series returns with eight thrilling live poker tournaments in exciting formats and multiple other surprises for those in attendance.
Yes! This time around, the stakes are higher than before. While amazing structures, a hefty INR 3.25 Cr. GTD prizepool in the Main Event and trademark Adda52 hospitality are all guaranteed affairs, the WPT India 2019 stands out for offering players of all stakes and calibres a shot at glory and stardom.
The series opens its doors to players with its 20k Kickoff event starting at 4 PM tomorrow. The 35K SuperStack and the 25k Big Bounty follow next. The headline tournament of the series once again is the 55k Main Event that begins with the first of its three starting flights- Day 1A at 3 PM on October 18. The next two starting days – Day 1B (at 2pm) and Day 1C (11.30pm) will take place on October 19.
To the delight of poker players, the Main Event is larger than life this time as it features a hefty INR 3.25 Cr. GTD prizepool, making it biggest-guaranteed Main Event in India. That is not all, the eventual champion of the Main Event will also get a WPT Main Tour seat worth $3,500 and points towards the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year. Adding some glitz and glamour to the event, there will be some of the biggest names in attendance from the poker world, including the poker legend – Robert Mizrachi coming all the way from Miami,Florida. Surprises don’t end here only, there will be a players party and as usual a lot of cash game action during the poker festival. A Look Back AT WPT India 2018 Winners!
20K Kickoff NLHE (#Event 1)
The last year’s opening event of – 20K Kickoff NLH was taken down by none other than the WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant who bested a strong field of 201 entries and walked away with the top prizemoney of INR 9,35,000. Sushant emerged victorious after a heads-up with Abhishek Grover who received INR 6,49,000 for his runner-up finish. Adda52 Team Pro – Kunal Patni finished 3rd for INR 3,89,700. Top 26 finishers received payouts, with min-cashes starting from a cool INR 28,400.
35K Superstack NLHE (#Event 2)
The second of eighth events on the schedule was the 35K Superstack NLH Event, which drew 215 entries to generate INR 7,115,640. Top 27 finishers made money, with min-cashes starting from INR 53,000. The lion’s share went to Abhishek Jalan, the founder of poker stable Ace Jack who beat Pavan Jain in heads-up to win INR 17,29,000. Jain settled for an impressive INR 12,00,000 for finishing 2nd.
25K Big Bounty NLHE (#Event 3)
The 25K Big Bounty NLH attracted 276 entries and outlasting the field was Alok Birewar, who bagged his career-first WPT title for INR 7,80,000 after beating his heads-up mate Sanjay Taneja who settled for INR 5,49,600. Top 35 players made money in the event with min-cashes starting from INR 25K.
55K Main Event (#Event 4)
The biggest highlight of the WPT India 2018 series was its 55K Main Event, which drew a record-breaking field of 697 entries. After four days of intense battles, it was Mumbai’s high-stakes cash game specialist Nikunj Jhunjhunwala who emerged victorious and took home a whopping INR 66.35 Lac after beating his heads-up mate Sahil Mahboobani who eventually settled for INR 46.53 Lac.
SHIP IT NLHE (Event#5)
The 5th event of the series was SHIP IT NLHE and it attracted a total of 110 entries. Top 11 players made money with a min-cash of INR 21,400. The lion’s share went to the eventual winner Sacheen Ramchandani who earned his first-ever WPT title for INR 2,35,000 in top prize. He beat the young gun Mayank Jaggi in heads-up, who took home INR 1,41,000 for his runner-up finish in the tournament.
20K Shootout NLHE (#Event 6)
The 20K Shootout NLH event, which replaced the last year’s PLO event, drew 50 entries. Pratik Goel won the tournament to claim his maiden WPT title for a payday of INR 3.87 Lac. He reached heads-up with Navkiran Singh, who fought well but could not go all the way, eventually finishing 2nd for INR 2,36,400. Top 5 players made money in this event with a min-cash being INR 75,600.
100K High Roller (#Event 7)
The 100K High Roller was the biggest buy-in event and taking down the title was Hyderabad-native Kalyan Chakravarthy. He outlasted 142 entries to emerge as the champion. A total of INR 13,427,520 prizepool was generated in this event and it was shared by top 18 finishers with a min-cash of INR 2,45,000. The lion’s share went to Chakravarthy who beat Adda52 Celebrity Pro Minissha Lamba in heads-up to win a whopping INR 37.53 Lac. Lamba took home INR 23.63 Lac for her runner-up finish.
20K Megastack Turbo NLHE (#Event 8)
The WPT India 2018 concluded with 20K Megastack Turbo NLH on 19th November. The concluding event crowned a champion in New Delhi-based pro Siddarth Singhvi. Dominating a field of 99 entries, Singhvi made his way to the top and clinched his maiden WPT title for INR 5.71 Lac after beating Anant Purohit in heads-up. A total of 13 players received prizemoney, with a min-cash of INR 46,780.
