Currently underway at Risemount Premier Resort in De Nang, Vietnam, the Asian Poker League (APL) is playing a host to its final event of the year. With several events already done and dusted, the series is now in its final stages and will be concluding soon on December 21. The festival has reached its climax with its inaugural VND 8 billion GTD Main Event, which is close enough to crown the eventual champion.
The VND 22,000,000 buy-in event drew 525 entries across its four starting flights, easily crushing its guarantee and generating a prizepool of VND 10 billion. Only 133 qualified for Day 2 with China’s Lin Jian in the lead. Following 6 levels, the day came to an end with just 33 players left. The native player Dao Minh Phu emerged as chip leader with 1,123,000. Others who bagged big stacks were China’s Jian (865k), Korea’s Yongdeok Kim (860k) and Nguyen Minh Tuan (855k). From Team India, only Sumit Sapra, who was recently signed as APL Ambassador, could progress to Day 3 and he bagged 378k chips.
The money reached during Day 2 starting at 66th place. From there, several players received a payout including two Indian players in Vikas Sahni (36th for VND 49,000,000 – INR 1.49 Lac) and MTT specialist Manish Lakhotia (53rd for VND 41,500,000 – INR 1.26 Lac).
