The first edition of the 2020 Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) kicked off yesterday at the Casino Pride 2 with the 10K Kickoff event, which drew a record field of 286 entries to comfortably crush its advertised guarantee and take the prizepool to over INR 26 Lac shared by top 32 finishers. After two days of intense action, coming out on top was none other than the lawyer-turned poker pro Ashish Ahuja who eventually defeated the young talent Sriharsha Doddapaneni to win INR 6,18,200 in top prize.
Only 13 out of 286 entries could advance to Day 2 with Sriharsha Doddapaneni leading the way. The eliminations were quick on Day 2 of the event. After Anuj Yadav and Zook Kurup falling in 10th and 9th places, the 8-handed final table was reached with Sriharsha Doddapaneni (915,000) still holding the chip lead and the eventual champion Ashish Ahuja (730,000) being second in chips.
Ahuja went on to outlast everyone from the final table – Phanindra Akkina ( 8th), Vikas KN (7th), Nishant Sharma (6th ), Chirag Sodha (5th), Vaibhav Shah (4th ) and Bikash Rai (3rd) to eventually enter heads-up with 26,90,000 chips over Doddapaneni’s 16,00,000 chips. The heads-up turned out to be an interesting battle with two extremely talented players battling it out for the title. In the end, it was Ahuja who emerged victorious and Doddapaneni had to settle for the runner-prize of INR 4.16 Lac.
