The 2020 World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Horseshoe Tunica $1,700 NLH Main Event attracted 491 entries to create a $743,865 prize pool. In the end, coming out on top of the field was Lytle Allen who shipped the coveted title for $144,313 and his first WSOP Circuit gold ring as the champion.
“It means a lot to me. I’ve been working hard to get to this point and to beat the field that I was playing against in the final six, they were tough, really good players, so I feel really good about it,” said Allen.
Allen outlasted a tough final table that included two WSOP bracelet winners in Kyle Cartwright and Bryan Piccioli and a five-time ring winner Scott Stewart who eventually hit the rail in 6th place.
Allen gained control when he flopped a set of deuces against Cartwright’s overpair of Ks Kd to take a commanding lead. After that, there was no looking back. He further extended his stack by busting Matthew Higgins whose Ac 7c failed to beat Ah Qc of Allen. With that, Allen surged past 10 million in chips and he further extended his lead by busting Kyle Cartwright in 3rd place to reach heads-up.
Allen entered heads-up with a 7.5:1 lead against Bryan Piccioli who was also looking for his first WSOPC ring. It took only one hand for Allen to seal the title. Pre-flop, Piccioli shoved his last 17 big blinds with As 8s and the eventual champion Allen called with Kh Kc. The board Jd 8s 3c 9d 6h gave the pot as well as the title for Allen. Piccioli took home $89,191 as the runner-up finisher.
