The coronavirus aka COVID-19 continues to infect people from all walks of life and this has created overwhelming feelings of anxiety, fear and uncertainty. As of today, the total number of the COVID-19 infection cases in the world has reached an alarming 2,419,206. The French poker pro and former esports superstar Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier is one of the 2,419,206 people worldwide to have tested positive for the deadly coronanavirus. He shared this disturbing news via Twitter just a few days after joining the world’s fastest-growing poker website GGPoker as a brand ambassador.
The Frenchman is currently in Czech Republic where a total number of the coronavirus cases has already reached over 6,657, with at least 181 deaths. A former champion of EPT, WSOPE, WPT and WSOP, Elky revealed that he underwent a mandatory test after riding with an infected uber driver.
After getting the bad news of the coronavirus contraction, Elky took to Twitter and his post got flooded with well-wishes from other prominent poker players and fans across the poker world.
This news comes just a few weeks after high-stakes poker pro -David Sands became the first big name poker pro to have contracted the coronavirus. Another very disturbing news was about the eight retirees who had been getting together for a home poker game at their condo in South Florida for years. They were very good friends and played low-stakes games like many of us. About a month ago was their last game as three are dead from COVID-19 and the other five have been infected.
