Keeping the ongoing threat of the coronavirus, Unibet Poker recently announced that all its land-based poker tournaments will be conducted online for the rest of the year. The events would be held at its online poker room with three Unibet Open Online series already scheduled for 2020. The first Unibet Open Online series will kick off in a few days beginning on May 1, 2020, with the Fall and Winter Unibet Open Online events to be held in September and December respectively.
The Unibet Open Tallin is already combined with the Unibet Online Series. After this latest announcement, it is pretty clear that there will be no Unibet Poker live events until 2021.
The €1,000,000 guaranteed Unibet Online Series kicks off on May 1 and concludes with the €1,100 buy-in Unibet Open Main Event on May 24, 2020. The satellites are already running in the Unibet Poker client where players can win their tickets of the 132 events of the scheduled series. Dates for the fall and winter series to be held in September and December respectively are yet to be finalized.
Unibet Head of Events, Nataly Sopacuaperu, said, “We fully understand the impact to our partners and the land-based venues. However, as a priority we must consider not only the health of our customers, but also the difficulty for recreational players with regards to planning trips around uncertainty.“
Unibet is looking to bring in a better playing experience to the users playing online. They are also interacting with players through a Unibet Community Forum to seek ideas from poker players.
