The Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) began with a $85 million in guarantees. The series was scheduled to wrap up on May 20 but it has been extended till the month-end, following the overwhelming response from players. The series will be hosting an additional 132 events, with the overall prize pool guarantee increased to $135 million, making it biggest online series!
Charlie Carrel is running hot! Around nine days ago, the English poker pro earned a score of $600,000 in a WPT Online Super High Roller Event. On Sunday, he outlasted 2,112 entries, including Owain ‘Sngwonder’ Carey heads-up to win Event #70 High ($530 NLHE PKO) for $67,468 and $43,912 in bounties. This was the third PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker title of his career. Carey walked away with $67,466 plus $19,840 in bounties for his runner-up finish. Third place finisher ‘HUMAN PIOSOLVER‘ pocketed $40,029.42 plus $15,742.63 in bounties.

Among other big winners, PokerStars Ambassador Fintan ‘easywithaces’ Hand topped a 409-entry field in Event #69 High ($1,050 NLHE Afternoon Deep Stack) while streaming on Twitch to win his first SCOOP title and $73,652 top prize. France’s Antoine ‘A.Saout’ Saout fell one spot short of the title as he finished runner-up for $55,195.04. Alex ‘Pwndidi’ Theologis finished third for $41,363.02.
Sweden’s ‘WhatIfGod‘ took home second title of the series after besting Andreas ‘mrAndreeew’ Berggren heads-up to win Event #76 High ($1,050 NLHE Turbo PKO Sunday Cooldown SE) for $76,688 and $73,728.46 in bounties. Berggren banked $76,687.85 and $14,087.89 for his runner-up finish, while ‘shermdog50‘ finished third for a payout of $46,623.91 and $18,519.54 in bounties.
Other winners on Sunday were ‘hyggeLT’ (Event #69-L), ‘Portaluppi.7’ (Event #69-M), ‘fAArid88’ Event #70-L, ‘u3meha’ (Event #70-M), ‘Hadoque’ (SCOOP), Bjorn ‘bokkie87’ Verbakel (Event #76-M).
Big Winners From Scoop Events On Saturday
The biggest story on Saturday was Mike Watson who became the 10th player to win five SCOOP titles. The player also finished runner-up in another event, narrowly missing out on his sixth title.
Watson earned his fifth title in Event #66 High ($2,100 NLHE) after outlasting 199 entries to win $80,642.40. ‘hotmark777‘ finished runner-up for $62,088.88, while Russian ‘Black88‘ added $47,804 to his bankroll for finishing in third place. Fourth place finisher ‘nofingclue11’ earned $36,805.64

Watson finished runner-up to Noah ‘Exclusive’ Boeken in Event #65 High ($1,050 8-Game). Boeken outlasted a field of 193 entries to win $38,494.94 and the second SCOOP title of his career. Watson had to settle for $29,098. Germany’s ‘nilsef‘ took home $21,995 for finishing third in the tourney.
Among several other SCOOP winners on Saturday, Joao ‘IneedMassari’ Simao took down Event #71 High ($1,050 Six Max Turbo NLO8) to add second scoop title to his resume. He outlasted a strong field of 194 entries to take home $38,694.35 in top prizemoney. His final opponent ‘Pardosh‘ walked away with $29,248.85, while ‘rompsa‘ exited in third place, taking home a good $22,109.15.
