After the COVID-19 outbreak, the demand for online poker has picked up pace. With live poker being almost out of the scene temporarily, most live poker brands are offering massive guarantee online poker tournament series to cater to players across the world. After wrapping up a very successful WPT Online Series on partypoker, WPT has announced an even bigger and grander online series on the platform, WPT World Online Championships guaranteeing a massive $100 million prize money!
Running from July 17 to September 8, the marquee online series features buy-ins ranging between $33 – $102,000. There are 12 Championship events which have been categorized into Micro, Mini, and Main events. The best part is that it will offer events in all popular variants and formats like 8-Max, 6-Max, Mix-Max, Knockout, Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo, and Heads-Up.
Two $10M Guarantee Events!
Adding to your delight, there will be two $10 million guarantee events. The first of the two will be Event #7: $10,300 WPT World Championship Main Event which will have two starting days and will take place from August 29 till September 2. The second $10 million GTD event will be Event #10: $25,500 WPT World Championship High Roller that will run from September 5 to September 8.
Another headline event of the series will be the $102,000 WPT World Championship Super High Roller with a $5 million guarantee. The schedule released by WPT accounts only for $58 Million in guarantees. The line-up of events for the remaining $42 Million in guarantees will be announced later.
“The WPT World Online Championships brings together the World Poker Tour and partypoker together once more for what will be the largest series in both of our histories. The spectacle on display during the WPT Online Series will be heightened once more come July with another major milestone for the World Poker Tour. Five WPT Champions crowned in a single series is a first for the WPT in 18 seasons, and we look forward to welcoming them all into the WPT Champions Club.”- said WPT CEO Adam Pliska.
partypoker Managing Director Tom Waters said, “I’m delighted that we have been able to partner with WPT to revive the WPT World Championships and bring the series online for the first time. We want to give the festival more of a live event feel, so the tournaments will be structured as such, including single re-entry for all NLHE events, freezeouts, limited late registration, and limited Day 1s. Due to popular demand, players will be able to see each other’s real names at the tables.”
The good news is that both WPT and partypoker will be streaming the entire series on Twitch.
