Yesterday marked the start of the most-awaited tournament series, the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Bracelet series that kicked off on WSOP.com in style with Event #1: $500 No-Limit Hold’em Kickoff. The opening event did well, pulling in an impressive 1,715 runners to generate a $771,750 prize pool, the lion’s share of which went to Ohio’s Jonathan “Art.Vandelay” Dokler who managed to make it to the finish line to capture the title for $130,425.75 and his first gold bracelet.
He came out on top of the strong final table after outlasting Justin Turner (runner-up for $80,416) in the heads-up. The final spot on the podium went to WPT’s Tony Dunst (3rd place for $57,881).
Holding $105,159 in live tournament earnings before this win, Dokler had won the Borgata Winter Poker Open $5,100 High Roller in January for $100,829. Two months later, he shipped the WSOP.com Online Super Circuit Series Event #9: $150,000 GTD NLH Monster Stack for $77,910 and his first WSOPC gold ring. He is off to a great start at the WSOP online by winning the first event of the series.
In this opening event of the WSOP Online bracelet series, all eyes were on Phil “Lumestackin” Hellmuth who was chasing bracelet No. 16, but he finally exited two spots shy of the FT. He fell in 11th place for $7,872 after losing a flip holding pocket queens against Shawn Daniels’s ace-king.
Top 249 players were paid out in the tournament with Darren Elias going out on bubble. There are plenty of notables finishing ITM, including Taylor “gambol_time” Howard (26th – $3,935.92), Mike “mouth123” Matusow (44th – $2,623.95), Clayton “clayfletch” Fletcher (64th – $1,620.67), David “davedadonk” Gutfreund (76th – $1,466.32), Alex “RIP_Neiko” Rocha (95th – $1,157.62), Jesse “MrJesseJames” Sylvia (137th – $1,003.27), Katie “Katelin” Lindsay (149th – $1,003.27), Melisa “NJ_Melisa” Singh (173rd – $926.10), and Maurice “Mac” VerStandig (196th – $771.75).
