After three days of play, partypoker Team Pro Mikita Badziakouski took down the 2020 WPT World Online Championships (WPTWOC) $25K buy-in high roller for $1,062,730. Belarussian outlasted 199 entries, including top tournament players at the FT to eventually enter the heads-up with fellow partypoker Team pro Jason Koon, who banked $810,869 after a heads-up deal with Badziakouski.
Badziakouski, with nearly $28.5 million in live tournament earnings, holds an impressive resume especially in high roller events but didn’t have a WPT title. With this high roller victory, the poker pro not only secured the coveted WPT title but also took his career earnings to a massive $30,098,691.
Final Table
Badziakouski entered the final day of the high-stakes tournament as the chip leader among the final seven players. The American pro Ali Imsirovic began with the shortest stack and was the first player to be eliminated. Imsirovic got all-in preflop and his Ac Kh failed against the Js Jd of Daniel Rezaei.
Following him Russia’s Aleksei Barkov who shoved with Kh 5h after it folded to him in the small blind. He was called by 2019 WSOP Europe main event winner Alexandros Kolonias with pocket sixes from the big blind. The pocket sixes remained the best hand and Barkov exited in sixth place.
Going out in fifth place was Austria’s Daniel Rezaei whose pocket sixes lost to American high roller regular Jason Koon’s Kc Qs. The winner Badziakouski scored his first elimination at the FT with his 9s 9d beating out Js 10d of Mark Demirjian on a 10-9-8-K-K board to bust his opponent in fourth place.
The three-handed play lasted more than 2.5 hours, with Badziakouski putting a lot of pressure on his opponents to extend his chip advantage. In between, Badziakouski picked up pocket Aces and min-raised to 240,000. Greece’s Alexandros Kolonias holding 3s 3h three-bet all-in for 1.8 million. Badziakouski called and the board ran out 2d Kd 2c 10c 4s, sending Kolonias out in third place.
After busting Kolonias in third place, Badziakouski entered heads-up with 18.3 million of the roughly 20 million chips in play. The heads-up saw the two players agreeing to a deal according to which Koon awarded $810,869 as the runner-up, while Badziakouski locked up $1,062,730 as the winner.
