The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 NLHE World Championship, known better to poker players as the 2020 WSOP Main Event is finally underway on GGPoker. The first-of-its-kind WSOP tournament boasting a unique online-live hybrid structure offers the opportunity of becoming the 51st World Champion and will be running on two online platforms – WSOP.com and GGPoker.com.
The first of the three starting flights of the world’s prestigious tournament played out on November 29. The opening flight wrapped up with only 62 players out of a field of 246 booking their seats for Day 2. With another two international starting days to run on Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6, 2020, the current prize pool of $2.4 million is bound to increase significantly.
Leading the Day 1A survivors is Julian Menhardt aka “VWgunther”, who ended up as the only player above half a million in chips after knocking out Ami Barer towards the end of the day to bag 534,490 in chips. Following him in chips are Paul “AsiaStylez” Esau (472,075) and Dirk Gerritse (457,197), with Preben Stokkan not far behind with 446,677 in chips. Ilya Anatsky (407,356), Michal “ml22322” Lubas (397,579), Sosia “Aunty_Ninja” Jiang (390,312), Lauryinas Levinskas (389,628), and Norway’s Espen “COVFEFE-19” Jorstad (361,792) are among the other notables ending among the big stacks.
Some familiar faces from the international poker circuit to advance are Alexandros Theologis (252,653), Brunno Botteon (247,359), Anatoly Filatov (232,102), online casino games streamer Jari “Jarttu84” Lahtinen (224,730), 2020 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Events MILLIONAIRE MAKER champion Daniel Dvoress (200,905), Aliaksei Boika (197,556), and Yuri Dzivielevski (184,326), etc.
Team India
Reportedly, four Indians had entered the tourney on Day 1A, namely, “level29”, “8natural,” “ev0ke” and “inonhmeansfu” but unfortunately none of them could survive the day`s play.
Remaining Flights
Two more starting flights on GGPoker are scheduled to run on December 5 and December 6. Since it is a Freezeout event, players who have busted on Day 1A will not be able to make a second run in the tournament. The final table will be played live at the King’s Casino in Rozvadov on December 15.
The WSOP Main Event for US players starts on December 13, with Day 2 scheduled to run on December 14. The final table for the event on WSOP.com will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on December 28. The winner of the Domestic US Tournament and the winner of the International Tournament will meet at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in a special Heads-Up Finale on Wednesday, December 30 to battle it out for a hefty $1,000,000 and the title.
