Hello and welcome to the country’s first live poker series of 2021 – The DPT Xpress! Touted to be “India’s Most Buzzing Poker Tournament”, the series is happening in Goa after almost a year since the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted what promised to be a massive year for live poker in India.
This is the fifth edition of the DPT Xpress and once again will be hosted onboard the deluxe Casino Deltin Royale. The series will kick off in a while from now with the 5K Burn N Turn Event at 5 PM!
The buy-in for the event is INR 5K and players will start with a 10K (200BB) stack. It is a re-entry + add-on tourney featuring 15-minute levels. The late registration will remain open till the end of level 8.

The cards are in the air for the opening event – 5k Burn N Turn and we begin with level one of the day. It is a 5k buy-in tournament featuring a 10k starting stack. Late registration is open till level 8.

In the last 15-20 minutes, there have been several eliminations. One of the recent eliminations is Simon Mint. He was busted by the WPT India 2018 Ship IT champion Sacheen Ramchandani who opened UTG with 325 and a player in UTG +2 flatted. Everyone folded until it came to Simon Mint in Hijack who shoved it all in. While everyone else on the table folded, Ramchandani called.

Adda52 streamer Shivam Jain opened the HJ to 800 and Abhishek Sharma in the big blind made it to 2400. Jain announced him all-in. Sharma snap-folded and Jain won the hand to collect the pot.

In a pre-flop action, a player from UTG open-shoved for 7k. The former DPT Xpress Main Event champion Ankit Jajodia from UTG +1 called and Hari Krishna from SB re-shoved for 14K, which Jajodia called. At the showdown:

In a pre-flop action, Shalab Bansal opened HJ to 3x and Shagun Jain from the button shoved all-in for 8500. After giving it a little thought, Bansal made the call and the cards were turned over.

With the end of the late registration, the total number of entries stands at 333, which includes 224 entries (including unique and re-buys) and 109 add-ons. This is a massive improvement over 197 entries coming in for the previous 5K Burn N Turn event last year in February.

In a pre-flop action, M. Khan from the middle position open-raised to 4x and Ramesh Rao Thotapalli shoved his 25 big blinds. After giving it a little thought, Khan eventually made the call with a 31K stack.

Former DPT Xpress Main Event Champion Anant Purohit Doubles Up

Adda52’s Full House champion Chirag Sodha from UTG opened to 4500. Everyone folded until it came to former DPT Xpress Main Event champion Anant Purohit in the SB who decided to shove all in for 32k and Sodha called. Sodha tabled pocket eights, while Purohit showed AQ off-suited.
The board ran 6x 6x 10x 9x Qx, giving Purohit a top pair with queens to take down the pot and double-up.

Sachin Kinger Finishes 3rd For INR 1,55,000

With Sachin Kinger falling in 3rd for INR 1,55,000, it is now down to heads-up for the title between Shrey and Nikunj Doshi.
In this hand, Sachin moved all-in with K2 and Shrey made the call holding pocket kings. The board opened 3h 6s Qd 4c 10c ran where pockets kings were good and Sachin got eliminated.
With this hand, Shrey took a commanding chip lead into heads-up with Nikunj Doshi.

Finally, we are down to heads-up for the title between Nikunj Doshi and Shrey Baj with the latter having a slight advantage over his opponent.

Finally, it is over with Shrey shipping it to win his career-first live title.

Shrey Baj Champions the DPT Xpress March 2021 5K Burn N Turn Event!
The opening event of the DPT Xpress March 2021, the #5KBurnNTurn event, has culminated, crowning a champion in Shrey Baj from Jaipur.
Baj came out on top of a 333-entry field to win his first-ever DPT title for INR 3.35 Lac. Nikunj Doshi who started the FT as the chip leader came close to winning it but had to settle for the runner-up prize worth INR 2.50 Lac.
Shrey began the final table with the second largest stack but scored back-to-back eliminations, busting KN Suresh in 4thplace and then taking out Sachin Kinger in 3rd place to take the chip lead into heads-up with Nikunj Doshi. Although Doshi was able to double-up and take the chip lead, Shrey refused to give up and eventually made his way to the top! We congratulate
both Shrey and Doshi for their amazing performance and wish them good luck for the remaining DPT Xpress events!
