The 2021 WSOP Online Series has crossed mid-way mark, and the latest event to award a gold bracelet was Event #16: $600 PLO8 6-Handed. The event ran on Friday and it was Brooklyn, New York-based player Allen Chang who emerged as the champion of the event to earn his career-second WSOP gold bracelet for $61,394! His first first gold bracelet had come just last June when he won Event #5 of the 2020 World Series of Poker Online for his first career bracelet and $161,286.
Chang started the FT third in chips and eliminated former bracelet winner Andrew Lichtenberger, Chris Leslie-Hynan, and Ryan Stoker before meeting Edwin Roman in the heads-up. Chang rode his start-of-heads-up chip lead to the end and won the title in under 10 minutes. The final hand of the heads-up saw Chang holding 9c 5s 4c 3s against Roman’s Ad Qh Js 6h. The board ran out 5d 8s Jd Qs Ks, giving Chang a spadees flush to win the title to knock out Roman in second place for $37,837.
The event attracted 498 total entries to create a $268,920 prize pool that was eventually shared the top 72 players. Yueqi “anoob” Zhu (18th for $1,990), Nathan “surfbum” Gamble (31st for $1,398), David “dwpoker” Williams (37th for $1,237), Galen “turkmalloy” Hall (44th for $1,237), and Ryan “Joeyisamush” Depaulo (49th for $1,103) were among the notables scoring ITM finishes.
