The 2021 World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event was a memorable one for Taylor Black. The man started the final table on Day 5 of the prestigious event with a massive chip lead of more than half the chips in play but when the table became four handed, he lost his lead. However, he did not give up and showed high resiliency, eventually taking it down for $1,241,430.
Black bounced back into the chip lead, eliminating three of his last five opponents, and survived the drama-filled final table that brought the curtain down on the World Poker Tour’s Season XIX.
Heads-Up
In the heads-up between Black and Vik Shegal, Black had a two-to-one chip lead over his opponent which he went on to extend to three-to-one. The heads-up did not last long and ended with Black winning the title. On the final hand, Black raised to 500,000 with the Ah Ks and Shegal three-bet shoved his final 7.5 million with the As 8d. Black called and the board ran out Kc 10c 6h Qd 9s, giving Black the top pair to win the hand and the trophy. Shegal ended up as the runner-up for $827,620.
