Thailand’s Punnat Punsri has take down the first of the two main events of the 2022 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Cyprus, Event #8: €100,000 Main Event. He outlasted a field of 99 entrants, winning $2.60 Million – his best live score. Hong Kong’s Wayne Heung finished runner-up for $1,825,000.
This Triton event saw a sizable turnout that resulted in a $9,900,000 prize pool, which was ultimately shared by the top 13 finishers. Stephen Chidwick bubbled this event, guaranteeing the remaining players at least $198,000 for their efforts. Several big names cashed but fell short of the final table, including Super High Roller Bowl V winner Isaac Haxton (13th for $198,000), Triton Madrid €50,000 buy-in champion Laszlo Bujtas (12th for $198,000), Triton Madrid €30,000 seven-max champion Paul Phua (11th for $225,000), and World Poker Tour champion Seth Davies (10th place for $225,000).
The heads-up was a short-lived one. On the final hand, all of the chips got into the middle with Wayne Heung holding Ah 9c against Punnat Punsri’s Ac 8h. An eight on the board gave Punsri the title and the $2.60 Million up top. Heung had to settle for the runner-up payout worth $1,825,000.
