Team India has showcased a stunning performance at the U Series of Poker (USOP) 2023, securing several titles, including victories by Amit Kaushik, Vinay B and Rohit Begwani. Closing out the team’s run in style was Chiraag Patel, who secured India its fourth series title by shipping Event #51: VN₫ 6.6 Million The Closer. Patel topped a 187-entry field, securing a prize of VND 223,800,000. He eventually struck a heads-up deal with Sukumar Letchmunan who also banked VND 223,800,000.
The Closer tournament featured a buy-in of VND 6,600,000 (~$279) and generated a massive VND 1,088,300,000 (~$44,830), which was finally distributed among the top 23 players. In this particular tournament, players began with a 20K starting stack, facing 25-minute levels. Given the enticing VND 500 Million guaranteed prize pool, the competition was fierce for the coveted top prize and title.
Beyond Patel’s victory, India’s online and live regular Deepankur Gupta and PokerBaazi G.O.A.T. 2023 champion Arun Vijay Mutgi also cashed The Closer event. Gupta padded his bankroll with VND 11,800,000 for finishing 21st, while Mutgi finished in 22nd position and banked VND 9,600,000.
