Biography:

Pius Heinz, a German poker Professional was born in Bonn and raised in the village of Odendorf. He was pursuing his graduation from Hochschule Fresenius College of Cologne in Business Psychology. To pursue his poker career, he had to put his studies on hold in August 2011. He is currently living in Vienna, Austria. Heinz began playing poker after watching the Main Event and High Stakes Poker on German TV. He started playing Poker with his friends and realized that it is the game of skill and studied this subject deeply. He proceeded to win over $700,000 online. In 2010, Heinz won a Full Tilt Poker Sunday Mulligan and then a PokerStars $150K tournament in 2011. He slowly developed his own style and realized that his experience is not much in playing live Poker, which require a lot of patience. He is the first German player to ever make it to WSOP main event final table. During his first 15 WSOP events, he cashed once with finishing in 7th place in the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘em event, which garnered him $83,286. That was his first ever live tournament cash. Due to size of the field, the 1st day of the WSOP main even was split over four-day period. He registered day 1-A, as was in hurry to leave for home. But he successfully won over Martin Staszko. On the final hand, Heinz’s A♠ K♣ defeated Staszko’s 10♣ 7♣, which did not improve on a board of 5♣ 2♦ 9♠ J♥ 4♦.
