Biography
Known in the Poker circuit for his angry outbursts, Phil Helmuth is popularly and rightly so called ‘The Poker Brat’. Winner of 13 WSOP bracelets including a Main Event victory in 1989, Phil also has other accomplishments including poker commentary and endorsing an online poker room to his credit. He is also known to arrive at every WSOP’s opening nights in flashy attire and themed vehicles.
Born on 16th July in Madison, Wisconsin, Phil dropped out of university to enter the world of poker. And it was soon that he tasted success and has continued to impress the poker world with his accurate calling and risk taking nature. Phil now lives in Palo Alto, California with his wife and two sons.
Phil has the remarkable record of the maximum WSOP final tables and cashes overtaking T. J. Cloutier. Though Texas Hold’em is his main game, he has cashed in 20 times in other games in the WSOP. Surprisingly, Phil has never won a WPT title but has had 4 final tables and 13 cashes. He also finds himself in the Poker Hall of fame for his consistent performance in poker. Phil has also written several poker books and has many poker videos to his credit.
