WPT Borgata Poker Open crowned its champion today as in Darren Elias who clinched the title with his career-high cash prize of $843,744 and a seat in the World Poker Tour(WPT) World Championship to be held right here at Borgata. With this first major title win, his career live earnings now exceed $2.5 million.
Elias nicknamed as “The End Boss” by his friends faced a stiff competition from the American poker pro Kane Kalas who took his seat on the final table as chip leader earlier today. Kane Kalas eliminated 4 players before the heads-up with Elias where he couldn’t stop his fellow countrymen in the final knockout but managed to add $500,364 to his live poker earnings. Elias sealed up the victory in style, finishing what he could not three years ago.
This season’s Borgata Poker Open drew 1,226 entries, making it the fourth-largest WPT field in history. It produced a prize pool of $3,924,426 to be distributed in top 120 finishers with the likings of few big names as in Ryan Riess (39th), Ebony Kenney (91st), last year’s Borgata Poker Open winner Anthony Zinno (65th), Jamie Kerstetter (52nd), Matt Glantz (30th), two-time WPT winner Cornel Cimpan (22nd), and Season X Borgata Poker Open winner Bobby Oboodi (12th).
Team India led by Aditya ‘Intervention’ Agarwal had a good outing at WPT Bogata Poker Open this season. Aditya bagged $15,109 before getting eliminated at the 35th spot. US based Mukul Pahuja who was in the top 10 of chip leader after Day 2 of the Main Event is the other Indian to win cash prize. Kunal Patel and South Africa based Ronit Chamani missed out the party after a bang on intial 2 days at Main Event poker tables.
