This is the 10th straight week when Dan Smith is at the #1 position of GPI ranking. His consecutive retention of 1st rank in GPI ranking for sure will lead him to become GPI Poker Player of the Year. On the other hand, there are slight changes in rest of the top five positions of GPI. Replacing Ole Schemion (GPI#4, -2), Jason Mercier acquires #2 position and Scott Seiver becomes 3rd by climbing one stair. By retaining his 5th position Davidi Kitai giving tough competition to all the other top 5 rankers.
GPI (Global Poker Index) releases list of top 300 Poker tournament players on every Thursday. To populate this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains Poker Index point system and uses some special formula for the same. Moreover, by maintaining this leaderboard of top Poker players, GPI announces ‘Player of the Year’ as well.
Since Daniel Negreanu (GPI#8, =) is one of those performers who is seeing success for past one year, thus his slight slips in performance can take him down and so does happened with him last week when he dropped down to #8 position from #3. However, he is retaining his 8th position this week as well.
Stephen Chidwick (GPI#9, +2) and Jacob Schindler (GPI#15, -5) are seeing up and down in their positions as Chidwick got up by two positions and Schindler got down by 5 positions. However, good news for Chidwick is that he is back to top 10 positions of GPI ranking.
The player who has made the biggest move this week is Chad Eveslage (GPI#229, +71) as he climbed 71 stairs and made his place in GPI300. Meanwhile, Daniel Colman (GPI#33 CB, +27) made is carrier’s best GPI ranking this week as he wins WSOP Big One for One Drop.
The players who have seen their biggest downside in GPI ranks this week are Yann Dion (GPI#184, -79), Jack Salter (GPI#75, -45), and Igor Kurganov (GPI#216, -60).
