Greek Poker Pro Athanasios Polychronopoulos Wins His Second WSOP Bracelet

Athanasios Polychronopoulos has repeated what he has done in the same event at the same tournament two years ago. This Greek Poker pro has won his second World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet by winning Event#17, $1,500 No Limit Hold’em on Monday night. After two years of his glorious victory, Polychronopoulos outplayed German Poker player Manuel Mutke in battle heads up to grab the title along with a prize money of $518,755. After winning his second WSOP bracelet and such a handsome payday, his total WSOP earnings have crossed $1.3 million. The runner-up, Mutke received his first WSOP cash, which is $322,908.

A total number of 2,105 players registered themselves for $1,500, No Limit Hold’em event to generate a huge prize pool of $2,841,750. Out of these, 216 made it to the money finish. Few renowned poker pros who made it to money finish are three time bracelet winner Matt Matros, Jake Cody, Barry Greenstein, bracelet winner Simon Charette and Sean Getzwiller with Steve O’Dwyer.

The final table was once again star studded and saw some of the biggest manes of poker world. Two of the hottest players of the tournament, Joe Cada and David “Bakes’’ Baker were also amongst the finalists. Cada marked his presence on his career’s fourth and tournaments second final table whereas Baker showed up on his third final table of the summer. With this, Baker became the first ever Poker Player to mark such an achievement. Joe Ward and Everett Carlton were two sought after names in poker who were also in the contention of the title. Carlton, who is an ex-golfer finished at third place.
