Ole Schemion (GPI#1, =) continues to lead on the top of GPI World Poker Rankings for the ninth straight week. Schemion’s 9-week streak has become the best streak of his career. First settled to #1 in October 2013, Schemion has spent 28 other weeks at the top. In this week standings, the next eight spots also remain unchanged, and only the 10th place saw a change. This time it is former World #3 Byron Kaverman (GPI#10, +1) who has made a return to the lead group for the first time in 2015. Thanks to his pair of final four finishes in High Roller events at the ARIA in Las Vegas that helped Kaverman gain a place in Top 10.
Former World #1 Dan Smith (GPI#11, -1) is the only player to drop out of Top 10. Smith was last ranked outside the Top 10 in June 2014. Former #1, Daniel Negreanu (GPI#12, =) has also joined Smith on the cusp of the lead group. This season he has made two scores each at the PCA in the Bahamas.
On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leader-board, GPI as well announces Player of the Year.
This week further saw a flashing rise of Mark Dube‘s (GPI#118 CB, +83) inside the rankings as he reaches his career-best #118. Following 25 cashes in 2014, this season Dube has already collected three cashes including his recent runner-up finish at the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open in Florida, which earned him career-high 421.80 points. Following his recent cashes at the WPT Lucky Hearts, Jason Koon (GPI#98, +38) cracked the GPI Top 100 for the first time.
Sam Trickett (GPI#178, -59) took a downturn to his lowest ranking in five months. Though Trickett will be representing UK at the upcoming Global Poker Masters event in Malta, but he has not yet to scored points in 2015. Former WSOP November Niner Martin Straszko (GPI#287, -35) is another player who tumbled in rankings, and now stands at #287 where he is facing the risk of dropping out of the 300 for the first time in 2015.
