After five hours and 81 hands of play, it was Konstantinos Nanos who dominated on the top to win the €150,000 first-place prize and a ticket for the WPT World Championship worth $15,400. Nanos defeated Vladimir Krastev in the heads-up match to win the title of 2015 partypoker World Poker Tour Vienna Main Event. Furthermore, in the long history of WPT, Gaëlle Baumann, apparently became the first pregnant lady to play on the final table.
The final table tournament started at the Montesino Vienna Card Casino with Krastev in the chip lead alongside Konstantinos Nanos, Sotirios Koutoupas, Thomas Bichon,Gaëlle Baumann and Andreas Freund. Sotirios Koutoupas was the first to hit the rail in the third hand of play. He doubled-up Thomas Bichon. Bichon flopped top two and turned a full house, and Koutoupas turned a flush. The two got it on the river, however, Koutoupas was side-lined.
The next to go was Gaëlle Baumann. Though she initially doubled with ace-queen to ace-eight, but two hands later she found ace-ten suited in the small blind and four-bet shoved against Krastev. Krastev called with ace-queen and flopped a pair of queen.
Then it was the turn of Andreas Freund who was eliminated on 24th hand, and again it was Krastev to knock out someone. Freund first doubled up Bichon to find himself short stacked with king-nine in the small blind. Later Krastev made the call with king-jack from the big blind. Both players hit their kicker on the flop, and the turn and river showed up blanks.
The biggest hand of the tournament took place when Krastev made an inappropriate move that cost him a lot of chips. He raised from the button to 65,000, and Nanos three-bet to 175,000 from the big blind. Krastev almost instantly four-bet to 390,000. Nanos spaced out before five-betting to 875,000. Then Krastev took his time and finally he went All-in. Nanos made a call, and snapped as he tabled the A-A. Krastev showed the K-Q, but he was in dilemma about the pot that was worth over 75% of the chips in play. The board ran out 8-9-5-4-Q, and Nanos’ was already the conquering hero.
Later, Bichon lost the hand to Krastev, and left in third place. In the heads-up play, Nanos was already holding double the chips that Krastev held. Though Nanos knock down many times and won most of the pots, but Krastev did manage to chop some pots with the best hand, or with a wonder on the river. At the end, Nanos check-raised all in on the 7-9-Q flop, and Krastev made the call. Nanos had the held J-10 for a straight, and Krastev top pair, top kicker with A-Q. The 8-Spades on the turn and 8-Clubs on the river confirmed the winner of WPT Vienna.
