David Peters is enjoying his most successful summer of his poker career. After being finished eight times in cash at 2013 World Series of Poker (WSOP), Peters has grabbed the title of the main event of Bellagio Cup IX and received a handsome prize money of $355,093. The total number of players who participated in the event was 137 and their combine buy-ins of $10,000 made a prize pool of $1,328,900.
Last year the same event attracted 126 players and they generated a prize-pool of $1,222,200 which was a little lesser then this year’s prize pool. The winner of Bellagio Cup VIII Main Event, Jess Yawitz has won a prize of $291,505.
There were some great poker players on the final table and Peters had to play exceptionally well to reach the top. With the likes of Connor Drinan, Daniel Stern and Alex Condon in the contention of the title, the game was even on the final day of the main event. Alexander Uska was the first player to leave the final table. Following him to the exit doors were Tobias Reinkemeier, Alex Condon and Connor Drinan. Daniel Stern who was playing very cautiously finished at fifth place. Busting at Number fourth and Third places were Michael Esposito and Matt Parry respectively.
It left Peters and Jason Koon to battle it out for the title and handsome prize money. Koon’s game was no match to the champion’s moves and he bowed down to finish as a runner-up. He got a prize money of $316,000.
After this win, Peter’s total tournament earnings has crossed $4.5 million.
