This week was a dynamic one with a lot of changes in the rankings. Kitai returns to second position replacing Ole while a Global Poker Masters Champion Mustapha Kanit hits the Top 10.
On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leader-board, GPI as well announces Player of the Year.
Scott Seiver (GPI#1, =), of-course not a one-hit wonder, begins Week #2 atop the GPI World Poker Rankings. Although Seiver was expected to lose points but he made up extra ponts for those aging scores by earning three big results at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, including earning a victory in the 5K PLO Event #43. Triple Crown winner Davidi Kitai (GPI#2, +1) made a return to second position in the GPI World Rankings. Kitai has been ranked inside the Top 10 since making his debut in August 2014, and for most of the time has been ranked #2 or #3 in 2015.
Ole Schemion (GPI#3, -1) fall continues for the second straight week, and now he stands at the third rank in the World. Though Schemion score points dropped further this week, his numbers are expected to rise next week as he is currently playing in the Main Event at the EPT Grand Final. UK star Stephen Chidwick (GPI#7, -1) will make a upturn next week following his 21st place finish at the Grand Final. Member of Team Italy and the winner of Global Poker Masters Mustapha Kanit (GPI#10, +19) entered the Top 10 for the first time in his career on the live tournament circuit. Kanit, who won the single-day EPT Grand Final Super High Roller event over the weekend, moved up 19 spots to #10 in the World.
Furthermore, American pro Ray Qartomy (GPI#121, +98) made a upswing in the standings for the second consecutive week. Qartomy, who was close to dropping out of the 300 prior to his latest scores that were earned after his final table performance at the WPT World Championship, has been ranked inside the GPI300 since March of 2013. Former World #2 Mike Watson (GPI#50, +52) returned to the Top 50 for the first time since dropping to #100 just two weeks ago. Last week, Watson was ranked #102, outside the Top 100, for the first time in over three years (ranked #102 on April 2, 2012).
Former World #2 Philipp Gruissem (GPI#275, -81) is in a danger zone from falling out of the GPI300 for the very first time in his career. However, the recent victory of German star in 5K No-Limit Hold’em Event #51 at the EPT Grand Final, will add to more points to his total score, and help him move up the ranks in next week’s update. Dan Colman (GPI#124, -35) continued to drop in the standings. This season the 2014 WSOP Big One for One Drop Champion is yet to score points.
