When the Indian contingent is out in Las Vegas to bring the maiden WSOP gold bracelet home, the online grinders back in the country are storming the virtual felt. Amidst low action due to absence of the pros, the Indian poker players won 5 online tourneys this weekend.
The action started with Abhishek Rathod aka abhi147 winning the $10.50 NL Hold’em [Heads-Up, Turbo, Super-Knockout] on PokerStars on Friday, June 19. Abhishek pocketed $241 for the 1st place finish in this tourney. He was soon joined in by Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover in the Friday night bash as the youngest poker sensation of India triumphed the $21 NL Hold’em [Super-Knockout], $17.5K Gtd on PokerStars bagging $1,668.38.
The Friday party didn’t stop here as Karan Radia brought the biggest figure of the weekend on Party Poker. Karan won the Daily Major: $20,000 Gtd [Re-Entry] bagging $3,900 in the top prize. Karan was almost unstoppable as he battled out to the heads up of The Triceratops on Full Titlt poker where he plays under the screen name ‘SpecialKaran’. Karan lost the headsup to the Brazilian player ‘andreyluis1’ but managed to bag $1,280.00 for his runner-up finish. rajesh_asi won his third online tourney outplaying 5400 players in the low buy-in tourney – $1.35 NL Hold’em [Turbo, Knockout], $6K Gtd. Rajesh added $849.33 to his online poker earnings toppinf this toruney.
Amit ‘bombay-lad’ Varma won the only tourney for India on Saturday. Amit triumphed the 41-player field of the $82 Weekly 8-Game, $3K Gtd taking down the top prize of $1,137.76. Arvindhan aka ‘tiltalert86’ who is who is only $8,594 away from reaching the milestone of $100K in cash prizes on PokerStars made 2 money finishes this weekend. In The Hot $2.20 [Turbo], $3K Gtd, he placed 4th for $316 while in the Big $162, $65K Gtd he bagged $403 in the 29th position.
Sunday saw only 2 prominent cashes for India in online tourneys. $lim$hady19 made a final table finish (3rd) in the PS $8.80 NL Hold’em, $4K Gtd for $623. Kartik ‘pegasus1505’ Ved pocketed $232 in The Bigger $22, $100K Gtd finishing 46th.
