Jason Mercier continues his reign ranked atop the GPI World Rankings for sixth consecutive week. Thanks to his recent successful deep run at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open- High Roller Event that took place at Florida. With his current score, Mercier seems to lead GPI PoY with a 238-point lead over current GPI PoY leader Anthony Zinno (GPI#2, =).
On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leaderboard, GPI as well announces Player of the Year.
This week Paul Volpe (GPI#4 CB, +5) moved to his career best in the world, and the credit goes to his recent final table finish at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO). Volpe now stands 5th on the PoY leaderboard.
After German pro Dominik Nitsche (GPI#8, =), American star Nicholas Petrangelo’s (GPI#9 CB, +2) made debut in the elite group for the very first time in his poker career. Fall of Dario Sammartino (GPI#10, =) and Dan Smith (GPI#15, -9) helped Petrangelo to move up the rankings. Smith dropped out of the Top 10 for the first time in span of over three months.
Furthermore, A total of 18 players made entry in the GPI300 this week including Marc MacDonnell (GPI#225), Christoph Csik (GPI#249), Pablo Fernandez (GPI#256), Jens Lakemeier (GPI#272), James Gilbert (GPI#275) and Randy Pfeifer (GPI#291).
