Now in the last week, the Macau Poker Cup (MCP) 26 is roaring with action. A 17-day festival running from February 3-19,2017 PokerStars Live Macau saw many big winners at the various events. Here is a look at some major highlights and winners from various prestigious events:
Taiwanese Feng Wen Chen Ships Baby Dragon Event
The Baby Dragon Event, which had a buy-in of HK$8,000, was taken down by the 53-year old Taiwanese businessman Feng Wen Chen, who defeated the Queen of Asian Poker Celina Lin in the event. The PokerStars Team Asia Pro Lin won two Red Dragon events and wanted to repeat the history by winning yet another Dragon title. Unfortunately, Lin’s lowest pair didn’t hold when Chen got a Q to complete his gutshot straight, winning the title, trophy, and the top prize HK$915,000.
Chen took home HK$915,000 ($117,919) for besting a huge field of 602 players and this was his biggest cash earning in his poker career. In total, 72 poker players cashed for the share of HK$4,204,368 in prize pool. In this tournament, India`s Vidwath Shetty was the only one to make Day 2. He ended up finishing 70th place with HK$15,150 (Rs 1.30 Lakhs) in the prize money.
Park Yu Cheung & Raghav Bansal Chop in the HK$50,000 No Limit Hold’em
Park Yu “Sparrow” Cheung, who is the President of the HKPPA and 8th in Hong Kong’s All Time Money List, won the HK$50,000 No Limit Event, which saw a total participation of 101 players. In heads-up, Cheung made a deal with Raghav Bansal to alter the payout between the 1st and the 2nd place. Before this also, Bansal finished 13th in the $4,000 NLH 6-max for a payday of HK$ 9,150.
In the end, Cheung took home the coveted trophy and HK$981,500 ($126,489), while Bansal took HK$1,067,500 ($137,572) for his 2nd place finish. Another Indian player who made a mark in this tournament was Shashank Rathi. He finished 3rd and took home $552,600 in the prize money.
Sergio Aido from Spain Ships the Single Day High Roller Event
The HK$100,000 buy-in Single Day High Roller drew 81 entries and had the HK$7,541,100 in prize pool. In the end, it was Spain`s Sergio Aido who took down the HK$100,000 Single Day High Roller Event, winning a whopping HK$2,074,000 ($267,290) as the top prize. He outlasted a total of 81 players in the event. In total, 11 players cashed for their share of HK$7,541,100 in prize pool.
The Spanish poker pro put in great efforts and didn’t concede his 3-1 chip lead to Yuan Li from China in the heads-up that lasted for about 80 minutes. Aido’s cash earnings in this event is definitely a good addition to what he earned last year when he finished 3rd in 2 events- the Main Event for HK$6,580,900 ($848,557) and the HK$200,000 No Limit Hold’em Event for HK$1,129,400 ($145,631).
Shashank ‘Shanky’ Jain Claims HK$ 1,500 Flipout, Amit Jain Finishes 5th
Shashank Jain enjoyed a good run through this tournament. His win came on early Wednesday morning. He outlasted all his opponents including countryman and fellow final tablist Amit Jain.
It was Amit Jain who fired up the final table. Sitting in the button, he moved all in with 9x10x. The shortstack small blind made the call with QJ and then the big blind holding A4 put it in as well. As they say, they fortune favours the brave and Jain knocked out both players to climb up the chip counts.
Shashank Jain had lost a substantial amount of his chips when the play moved to the final 7. The Adda52 Pro Live Amit Jain was still on elimination spree, knocking down yet another player with pocket Queens against his opponent’s Fours and thereby bringing down the final table down to five players. Very soon, Amit Jain got eliminated when pocket Aces got cracked by his opponent’s Kx 8x, which hit a one card flush. A few hands later, the table down to heads-up where Shashank Jain sat together and made a deal. It didn’t take long for Shashank to emerge as the winner of the HK$ 1,500 Flipout.
Macau Poker Cup ( MCP) 26 is in the last week and a large Indian contingent is taking part in the series. Some notable names include the Adda52 Live Pro players Nikita Luther & Kunal Patni, Romit Advani, Sahil Chutani, Nikhil Dangayach, Nageshwara Alaparthy and Kunal Jain to name a few.
