The PokerStars Festival London £2,200 High Roller event that wrapped up at the Hippodrome Casino on 25th January attracted 142 entries along with the additional 22 re-entries and generated a £318,160 prize pool. The money was distributed among top 24 players with a min-cash of £3,690.
The eventual winner of the event was the 24-year-old chemistry student Dragos Trofimov, a poker player from Moldova, who won the title for £73,990 along with the Platinum Pass worth $30,000.
It took two days to reach the official eight-handed final table that had some of the most recognized names, including England’s Luke Schwartzin and Italy’s WPT and WSOP Circuit title winner Sergio Castelluccio. The eventual winner Trofimov started the final table 4th in chips, while UK’s Jonathan Wong was the chip leader. After Spain’s Jordi Torner hit the rail in 3rd place, the heads-up was set.
