Joe Cada Claims His Third Bracelet In 2018 WSOP $3,000 SHOOTOUT!

Joe Cada from the US claimed his third WSOP victory by shipping the $3,000 SHOOTOUT event at the ongoing WSOP 2018. With this win, the player claimed his third gold bracelet and took his WSOP earnings to over $10 million, by adding a payout of $226,218 for his win in the SHOOTOUT.

This year’s SHOOTOUT drew 363 entries to nearly crash last year’s record-breaking attendance. The entries took the total prizepool to a $980,100, which was shared the top by 50 finishers.

The tournament’s final day hosted on Saturday began with 10 players at the final table. When the cards were thrown in the air, it was Cada leading the final 10 players. Cada was among the headliners of the final day. He took down the WSOP World Championship back in 2009. Being just 21 years old at that time, he became the youngest player to ever win the WSOP Main Event title.

Just like Cada, his fellow countryman Joe McKeehen, the 2015 Main Event champ, was also looking to win his third gold piece, but the player eventually went out in third place after his set of sixes clashed into Cada’s set of Kings. McKeehen took home $101,766 for his third-place finish.

 Thrilling Heads-Up

 The heads-up kicked off with the eventual champion Cada holding 4.68 million to the 700,000 of Sam Phillips, his final opponent. Despite a huge gap in chips, Phillips battled it out fiercely for the title and doubled up on the very first hand of the heads-up play, and from that point on, the duel saw a swift swinging of chips back and forth from one player to the other.

The heads-up took around 23 hands before the champion was crowned. On the last hand, Phillips shoved pre-flop for his last 130,000 with 8c–6c and Cada called with Jh–3c. The board ran out 7d–Js–8h–Jc–8s to give Cada the better set. Phillips ended finishing runner-up for an impressive $139,804.
