Jimmy Livramento has taken down the WPTDeepStacks Portugal Main Event winning €50,000 + €2,500 WPTDeepStacks season-ending event package. The player who started the final table as the chip leader defeated a tough 224-player field to win the tournament at the Casino Vilamoura.
A total of 9 players returned for the final day with the hope of winning the €50,000 first-place prize as well as the €2,500 WPTDS season-ending package. Starting the final table as the massive chip leader was Jimmy Livramento who held 1.45 million and was 200,000 chips ahead of his nearest competitor. Livramento played brilliantly and maintained his chip lead throughout the FT.
Livramento faced Henrique Couto in heads-up. Despite Couto taking an early lead, Livramento was able to double up when his eight-five gave a full house against Couto who had flopped two pair with queen-five. Livramento’s good run helped him to apply the pressure successfully and win big pots.
Livramento battled it for around 2 hours to win the title. The final hand saw Couto’s all in called on the turn with Livramento holding a pair of tens. Couto had a smaller pair with sixes but also had outs with the straight draw and needed to hit on the river. The river bricked and Livramento turned his back on the table to celebrate his victory with the rail cheering for his top-notch performance.
Another name worth mention was defending champion Francisco Lopes who played brilliantly to secure back-to-back final tables but fell in 5th place, and his dream of another victory came to an end.
