The 2018 Poker King Cup took place from 20 to 25 September at the Venetian in Macau. It wrapped up successfully with the HKD 16,500 Main Event and the HKD 200k Super High Roller, with former being shipped by Wei Ran Pu and second being won by Kui Song Wu for his career best score.
Coming to the HKD 16,500 Main Event, the tournament drew a total of 518 entries and the top 63 players took away cash prizes. Yesterday, it was Li Yu who led the chip counts after Day 3, heading into the final table. Unfortunately for him, the player couldn’t go on to win the event. He ended his run in 4th place and the player who took down the tournament was Wei Ran Pu.
Pu topped the all-Chinese final table to score his biggest live cash HKD 1,464,000($187,239). He dominated the FT, busting 5 players from the final table and entering heads-up with a 3:1 chip lead.
Pu’s heads-up opponent, Jian Dong Yu, put up a good fight, but couldn’t overcome his chip deficit. The heads-up did not last long and was all over in just 10 hands. On the final hand, Yu raised the button with Ace-Four and Pu moved all-in with Pocket Sixes. The pair held up to give Pu the win.
Yu settled for a runner-up finish and collected HKD 1,026,500 – a career best for him as well.
