The 2018 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) has been running for over 20 days at Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. Now, the series has reached its final stage with only the €10,350 Main Event left to crown its latest champion. Meanwhile, the fast-paced €100,000 LEON’s High Roller is done and dusted. Named after owner of the King’s Casino, Rozvadov, Leon Tsoukernik, the event drew 33 entries. After several hours of play, It was Malaysia’s Ivan Leow, who emerged victorious and walked away with his career-first WSOPE title and a hefty €1,251,455 in top prizemoney.
Leow reached the 9-handed final table with the 5th largest stack. The poker pro played some top notch poker to chip up. He eliminated the key players – Tony G and Dominik Nitsche on the final table. Moving into heads-up, he then faced the 2-time WSOP bracelet winner Martin Kabrhel, who tried his best but could not go all the way, eventually finishing runner-up for a hefty €773,457 .
Heads-Up
In heads-up, Martin Kabrhel began as the chip leader with a stack of 18,125,000 against Ivan Leow’s 14,875,000. The former, however, could not maintain the lead. Soon after the latter became the chip leader, the last hand arose where Leow raised to 1,000,000 and Kabrhel moved all-in for his last 7,500,000. Leow quickly called with Kh Js against Kabrhel’s As 9d. The board ran Qs Jc 9h Jh 8h. Leow picked three-of-a-kind against Kabrhel’s flopped pair of nines to claim his first WSOPE title.

Ryan Riess Leads After Day 3 of the 2018 WSOP Europe Main Event
The competition is getting harder at the ongoing €10,350 Main Event, which has attracted a total of 534 entries to create the final prize pool of €5,073,000. The field is now down to just 50 survivors at the highlight event and it is the 28-year old Ryan Riess, who has bagged the chip lead into Day 4.
“Today was great. It started really badly; I had 150,000 at 3,000/6,000, and then this guy moved to my right with just a ton of chips, and I got really lucky against him. I doubled through him a lot, and it was just a good day,” said the poker pro who has amassed $12,894,211 in live poker earnings.
While it is too early to say, but Riess is a strong contender for the title with a stack of 4,233,000 chips, which puts him ahead of the everyone else in the contention. Yesterday, our Indian challenger Shravan Chhabria made it to Day 3 but he unfortunately could not make Day 4, exiting just before the pay-outs began. Top 81 players are to be paid out in this event with a min-cash of €15,074.
The pay-out for 50th place is €18,210 but everyone will be eyeing the first place prize of €1,122,239 (INR 9.39 crore). Interestingly, 3 gold bracelet winners are still in contention, including Norbert Szecsi (who won €1,650 mixed PLO and NLH at the series), Niall Farrell and Igor Kurganov.
